How the Royalty Pool Works: Fair Share for Every Read

Wonderful Books does not pay per download or per copy sold. Instead, we collect subscription revenue from our readers (individuals, schools, and corporate partners) into a single monthly royalty pool. At the end of each month, we calculate the total reading time across all books on the platform. Your share of the pool is determined by the percentage of total reading time your book contributed.

For example, if your book accounts for 5% of all reading minutes in a given month, you receive 5% of that month’s royalty pool. This means every minute a reader spends on your pages earns you money — not just when they buy it once. It rewards quality, engagement, and loyalty.

When and How You Get Paid: M-Pesa Deposits Made Simple

Payments are processed every 30 days after the close of the month. On the 10th of the following month (or the next working day if it falls on a weekend), we deposit your royalties directly to your registered M-Pesa number. No need for a bank account, though you can also choose bank transfer if you prefer. The minimum payout threshold is KES 500, so even if your earnings are lower in a slow month, they roll over until you reach that threshold.
